FAQ – Cancelled, Missed, & Makeup Lessons

CANCELLATIONS, MISSED & MAKEUP LESSONS

Life happens and schedules can change. Please call us at least 12 hours before your lesson time to reschedule. We will do our best to find another time to move your lesson to take place at another time subject to teacher availability. If you email us, make sure that you receive a reply to confirm that we have received your email to cancel and reschedule your lesson. Sometimes email gets lost. If you have not heard from us, please call to make sure that we are not expecting you at your next lesson.

We understand that some events can’t be predicted and it is not always possible to give at least 12 hours notice. In this situation, we will do our best to accommodate your makeup lesson if the teacher is available.

If you think you will not be able to reschedule your lesson, you can also choose to give your lesson to someone else (your mother, father, cousin, grandmother, sibling, neighbour, friend, etc) in the same session. A missed lesson can be someone else’s opportunity!


Group Lessons:

If you are not able to make your group lesson for a particular week, we will do our best to place you in another group lesson in the same week if places are available.

Peter's commitments have increased in 2019 with musical direction in theatre, conducting, as a piano accompanist, composition, and other large scale projects. This means that there may be a week where he has to reschedule your class to another time that will work with your schedule as well for that week. We will know in advance, and will contact you asap to reschedule.

We ask that the minimum notice period to cancel your lessons is 7 days before your next scheduled lesson. We have kept this as short as possible. The reason for this is that time slots and teachers are reserved for you in advance. Before your next lesson and within those 7 days – teachers plan work, may work on transposing or composing specific sheet music for you, or other preparation that is individual for your lesson.

While we would like to have the minimum period to be the day before to make it convenient for you, our priority is to respect our teachers and the work and time they put into preparing for your next lesson. We don’t teach out of a text book that has been prewritten, because every student is unique and has different goals. Each lesson is tailoured specific to you so you reach your goals faster based on your ability.
If you have paid in advance for lessons you are no longer able to commit to, the remaining balance will be refunded taking into account the 7 days notice.


Group Lessons:

If you are no longer able to commit to group lessons, and cancel mid term, there is no refund. Group class sessions enrolment reserves your place for the entire 10 weeks.

Your time is valuable, and so is my time. If you miss your appointment without a 12 hour notice, you lose that time. If you don't show, or a teacher appears at your home, you will still be charged in full. In turn, I promise to honour our appointments, and be on time as well.

Schedules with teachers and locations are organised in advance for your lesson. This means that if a cancellation happens less than 12 hours before a lesson, our teachers are still paid for reserving their time and resources for the scheduled lesson. It also means that other students were not able to use that time slot for their rescheduled lesson.

To respect out teachers that have been reserved and planned for your lesson, there is no refund or makeup lessons for missed lessons that were not rescheduled at least 12 hours before the lesson date and time. Missed lessons must still be paid for.

Yes of course. Please let us know the date of your last lesson, and when you would like to recommence them. Please let us know at least 7 days before your next lesson that you would like to pause your lessons. We can continue when you come back.

If you prefer, you can also choose to give your lesson to someone else (your mother, father, cousin, grandmother, sibling, neighbour, friend, etc) in the same session. A missed lesson can be someone else’s opportunity!


Group Lessons:

There is no refund for missed lessons. Group class sessions enrolment reserves your place for the entire 10 weeks.

We can reschedule your lessons for when you get back and do extra ones. It may also be possible to extend the length of your future lessons to make up the time missed.

If you would like a refund for those weeks, this is possible as well. Please organise this at least 7 days before you need to take a pause so we can organise either rescheduled lessons, extended future lessons, or a refund for you.

If your teacher must reschedule for any reason, we will contact you immediately to reschedule your lesson. If it is less than 24 hours before your lesson, and you are not able to reschedule, you have the option of another teacher, or a refund. Whichever you prefer.
We understand that delays happen that may be out of your control. Arrive as soon as you can, and the lesson will start as soon as you arrive. Please note that the lesson will still end at the same end time of your reserved time slot. It is not possible to extend past this due to other student lesson or teacher bookings already scheduled.
